🏆 The 10 Most Expensive Pokémon Cards Ever Sold (2025)

Rare Pokémon cards are no longer just collectibles: they have become genuine investments. Some ultra-rare Pokémon cards have sold for over 4 million euros, proving the importance of proper TCG card maintenance to preserve (and increase) their value.

👉 At DistrictTCG, we help you preserve, prepare, and enhance your Pokémon cards through our professional cleaning, preparation, and presentation services.

🔥 1. Pikachu Illustrator (1998) – €4,853,000

It is the most expensive Pokémon card in the world, sold for over 4.8 million euros. Intended solely for the winners of an illustration contest in Japan in 1998, only 39 copies of this card were printed. Its rarity and impeccable condition (PSA 10) make it a true museum piece.

💡 A card in this perfect condition (PSA 10) can only be obtained through meticulous preparation. That is why our cleaning packs, like the Complete TCG Cleaning & Holographic Shine Pack, are ideal before grading!

🐉 2. 1st Edition Shadowless Charizard (1999) – €386,400

This 1st Edition Charizard is one of the most iconic symbols of the Pokémon TCG. Its lack of a shadow around the artwork makes it even rarer and more sought-after by purists. A copy in perfect condition sold for nearly €400,000.

📈 Collectors look for an impeccable surface free of scratches. Before sending your card for grading, consider our TCG preparation packages to maximize your chances of obtaining a high grade.

💧 3. Blastoise Galaxy Star Holo – €331,200

This version of Blastoise was never sold: it was produced solely to convince Nintendo to let Wizards of the Coast print the Pokémon TCG. Only two copies are said to exist in the world.

✨ Holographic cards are particularly susceptible to micro-scratches. Our specific treatments revive the holo shine while protecting the surface.

🔥 4. Charizard No Rarity Symbol (1996) – €380,250

The first Japanese version of Charizard, this card has no rarity symbol. It has been signed by the legendary illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita, which further increases its historical and financial value.
🔍 For signed or vintage Japanese cards, gentle and precise preparation is essential. Our services guarantee safe cleaning, adapted for vintage cards.

⚡ 5. No. 3 Bronze Pikachu Trophy Card (1997) – €276,000

Awarded only to third-place finishers at the very first official Pokémon tournament in Japan, this card exists in very limited quantities. It is considered a true elite trophy.

🎯 This is where our services come in:

Deep and risk-free cleaning
Removal of fingerprints and dust
Specific polishing of holographic surfaces
